AstraZeneca’s new global HQ and R&D centre supplied with TRIA products
In July of 2014, the biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca presented the project of its new global headquarters of R&D and Corporate Center in Cambridge, United Kingdom, designed by the swiss architecture office Herzog & de Meuron.
The coordination of the architectural project with the different specialties of engineering, landscape architecture and interior design aimed to fully respect the concept of the initial project.
In 2015, PORSEG received the first contact from Herzog & de Meuron. The intention was to prescribe the PLANO series, a series awarded by the Red Dot Design Award, complanar on both faces and with hidden hinges and doorcloser, still ensuring compliance with the legal requirements of fire resistance and acoustic attenuation, as well as the design intent of the project.
Since the required method for fixing the frame to the wall, called face fixing, is a variation of the original model, additional tests to the series were demanded, thereby providing this series an enormous flexibility in its adaptation to different constructive details , in parallel with a high capacity to respond to projects of higher technical level.
TRIA began supplying this project in January of this year, following a close monitoring of the project’s evolution and rigorous preparation of the drawings alongside with the various stakeholders in the process, particularly our client Stortford Interiors (UK) Ltd.
